Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Assistant (QA Assistant) is responsible for assisting the QA department in promoting quality report outcomes by interpreting and applying the policies and procedure guidelines required by state and federal regulation.  This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, formatting, proofreading, editing, and/or auditing medico-legal reviews against quality and client standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Retrieve and organize clinical data
  • Communicate with UR Nurses to correct errors or omissions and to investigate questionable reports
  • Participates in an interdisciplinary health care team to achieve positive outcomes
  • Reach and maintain a 70-75 average daily case load once released from training
  • Maintain a monthly Quality Assurance score of 98% or higher
  • Analysis of documentation in relation to medico-legal review
  • Provide administrative assistance to the QA Director (filing, reporting, data entry, messages, etc.)
  • Transfer data to appropriate templates as well as reformat and edit data before files are submitted to the Quality Assurance Nurses
  • Collect data for reports
  • Work directly with QA Nurses to resolve quality issues
  • Communicate with QA Director and QA Nurses on urgent issues, objectives and areas of improvement
  • Electronically file and retrieve corporate documents, records and reports
  • Composing and preparing correspondence
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Requires regular and consistent attendance
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Other duties as needed

Knowledge and Abilities Requirements:

  • General Typing Skills at 65 wpm
  • Proficiency in English language, with an aptitude for spelling and grammar
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy
  • Comprehension of basic medical terminology
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or higher
  • 3-4 years in an office setting to include emailing, filing, formatting, scanning, and data entry
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Word preferred

License and Certification:

Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) preferred
